With the start of high school and college football games just around the corner, there are a lot of interesting links regarding recruiting right now. While I have went through a number of these links, here are some of interest for recruiting fans:
- Texas prep star Mitchell had verbally committed to OU – ESPN
This is the saddest article of the day as Herman Mitchell was shot over a dispute at an apartment. It should be another reminder that even if you are a highly rated athlete with scholarship offers, anything can happen to you if you put yourself in a bad situation.
- Baylor LB Pawelek better than expected – Dallas Morning News
After being a two star recruit out of high school that few thought could play, Baylor linebacker Joe Pawelek was named freshman All American and is looking for more this fall as a sophomore.
- A Revived Program and an Altered State at Rutgers – New York Times
After finishing 2006 with an 11-2 record, few thought the Rutgers program could be considered a powerhouse. But it appears that things are looking up for the Scarlet Knights.
- Jeannette’s Pryor hopes to thrive with all eyes on him this fall – Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
Few players in recent years have been rated the top football player by Rivals.com and one of the top basketball players as well. Terrelle Pryor (Pictured Right) is going through that right now and this article is an interesting take about how to keep focused on his team and those important to him.
- College Football Preview: Rebel site had humble beginning – Commercial Appeal
The main point of this article talks about a recruiting website but there are a few good points later on in the article. This is a big quote from the article. "The Internet is one of the most magnificent inventions of all time," Rounsaville said, "but it also can be one of the most dangerous. I mean, it can be one of the most hurtful, most dangerous tools in history, in terms of the amount of information that is unfiltered and anonymous."
- NU builds foundation for strong recruiting – Lincoln Journal Star
Nebraska head football coach Bill Callahan has been the head man for a few years with the Cornhuskers and it appears that if his recruiting Class of 2008 may be the strongest that he has brought to Lincoln. “I think this class pound for pound — once signing date hits — will be his best class,” Rivals.com recruiting guru Jeremy Crabtree said.
