Miscellaneous Athletic Recruiting Ramblings - 5/25/2008There is a good chance that I will be all over the map with these ramblings so please bear with me for a little while. I have a lot to talk about with the site, a new design coming, and a small e-book that should be available within the next few weeks.

Recruiting-101 E-book Available soon
After having written recruiting advice regarding all of the positions on the football field, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to put it together as an e-book and make it available for sale. I have taken what I wrote about previously and really expanded on it and what college coaches are looking for. Because I know money is always an issue, the most that I will be charging for this e-book is $5. I hope that if you are a regular reader of this site, that you will seriously consider purchasing it. I still have to put the finishing touches on it over the next few weeks but it is definitely something to keep an eye on.

New site design
I have been testing a site design for Recruiting-101 that will be going up within the next few weeks. This site design will not be implemented until I finish the previously mentioned football recruiting e-book. But once that project is completed, I have a new site design that will have a new layout that should make it easier for viewers to find the top articles. I do really like the site design that we currently have but the main reason for the change really is to allow new readers to find some of my favorite articles that I have written over time.

Google
A special thanks to google for sending so many readers my way. I was checking the numbers today and I have had over 800 readers this month find Recruiting-101 by searching Google. It should not come as a surprise that the top searched phrase was Football Recruiting 101. The way I look at it is the more articles that I write, the better chance that people will have to find this site. I am here to help you through the recruiting process and I know that it is not easy.

Spread the word
I always greatly appreciate readers spreading the word of Recruiting-101. It can be through email, posting about the site on a message board, chatting with friends, or anyway that you see fit. The bottom line is that the more readers coming to the site, the better and most consistent that the content will be.

What do you want to read about?
Is there anything that you want to specifically read about on the site? I know that there was a suggestion a while back regarding prep schools. While I won’t get specific about certain ones, I will talk more about the whole concept of going to a prep school. If there are other suggestions that you want to read about, please let me know. I understand that the recruiting process is a difficult journey so please let me know what are the biggest question marks that you are facing during the process.

NFL Contracts
This really isn’t all that recruiting based but have you seen the contracts that some of the early picks in the draft signed? Matt Ryan of Boston College signed with the Falcons and has been guaranteed at least $34.75 million dollars. Ryan could never start a game in his career and he would still have that monster chunk of money sitting in the bank. That alone is amazing. Ryan’s contract could end up being worth more than that of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. That definitely makes a lot of sense.
