I have been meaning to post this ramblings for a while but I have a few things I have been meaning to say to readers for quite sometime. Anyways, here are some of the things that have been on my mind over the last month or so.
Apology
I have been meaning to apologize for quite sometime for my lack of articles during the beginning of March. I was out of town for another job and just didn’t have the time and/or energy to put together some well written pieces following recruiting. Regardless, I do hope to make up for it in the future.
Spread the Word
It may be because the winter Signing Day is already behind us or because of the lack of coverage that I already mentioned, the numbers have taken a big dip in terms of viewers checking out this site. If you have found this webpage useful and helpful during the recruiting journey, please do me a favor and help spread the word. The only way this resource can stay free is if more people visit the site and hopefully support the sponsors as well. I would really appreciate that if you could get at least one new users to the site.
State Tournament Success
One thing that I saw first hand is how important the State tournament is in any state. The more I think about this subject, the more I realize that I actually want to write a full piece on this. If you really want to help your recruiting, especially in basketball, getting to the State tournament is vital for helping yourself.
Pryor Decides
It may have taken him a few extra weeks but quarterback Terrelle Pryor has committed and signed with Ohio State. He did pass up the opportunity to possibly start as a freshman at Michigan but many expected him to be a Buckeye early on. What is interesting is that if not for his dad wanting him to visit Penn State, he would have signed with Ohio State. So weeks after he delayed his decision, he ends up at the same school. Good call to hold things up, right? At the very least, he figured out without any doubt where he wanted to play college football. And with the success that Troy Smith had a few years back in that offense, don’t be surprised if Pryor does the same.
Camps and Combines
I have mentioned it in many articles but it is very important to sign up for different camps and combines throughout the country. I strongly recommend only going to the ones that are free but that is definitely your call. I was recently told that a Scout.com camp started one to two hours late so be prepared for potential chaos at the camps and a delay at anything you attend. I would say put an extra hour or two into your schedule.
Stephen Curry Update
One quick note about Davidson guard Stephon Curry. Part of the reason why he was not recruited by ACC schools and other programs is because as a junior, he was 5-foot-9, 150 pounds. He hit a growth spurt and I believe he is up to around 6-foot-3. Also, his dad (Former NBA player Dell Curry), limited him playing AAU basketball because he felt it taught poor fundamentals. I really can say that I agree with him 100% on the AAU mention but it is also needed to help get a major scholarship. The good news is that his son will have professional options whenever he chooses over the next three years. This information was found in Sports Illustrated for those curious. There was a small blurb about Curry in their article on the NCAA tournament.
