For those that are working hard to make sure that they are fully qualified to participate in college athletics as a freshman, the ACT and SAT are two important keys when trying to master the NCAA sliding scale. The higher scores that you have in either of these tests, the lower that your GPA is required to be.
And as I mentioned in a recent article, there is no real reason why you cannot take these tests multiple times to help yourself with academic scholarships that could potentially be offered by a college. Here are upcoming dates in 2008 and 2009 that are official testing dates for the ACT and SAT:

September 13, 2008 (The September 13, 2008, test date is available only in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and West Virginia.)
